Craig's Story
Hey, Kevin,
Thought you might be interested to hear this. . .
Friday night, Sally and I met some bikers on a 7 day hut to hut trip offered by another company. They were so disappointed in their Gateway hut and so tired of stinking and sweating that they splurged for an air-conditioned room at the resort.
They mentioned the lousy food in their huts. We said that we'd had fresh chicken and grilled veggies the night before for dinner and that the hut had been well stocked with fresh red pepper hummus, fruit, milk, and iced Colorado ESBs. They were pissed. They told us they'd been eating stale noodles for 5 days.
As we chatted, we also mentioned that you'd shuttled a bag for each of us, that our cabins were clean and bug free, and that our package had included a night's stay at the resort and 120 bucks in gift cards, which we were having difficulty spending. We really weren't trying to gloat, but it started to sound that way. It's just that we'd had a blast on our hut-to-hut trip. The other group obviously hadn't.
When we ran into them the next morning, they'd arranged a shuttle to get close to the next hut. Five days in the saddle was enough, and they were ready for their trip to end. They also asked for the name of your company, saying that if they ever do this again, that they'll go with Colorado Backcountry Biker.
Thanks, again, for tweaking the route to make things easier on Sally's ankle and to save us from the heat.
I'm already scheming about a return trip next summer, hopefully with a healed wife and some friends in tow.
I'll send a couple of pics when we upload them.
